Wed 14 Jan 2009 » ***** !!!!! News 14 Jan 2009 !!!!! *****

January is murder, isn't it? Well it is at the Carlton....

Not been cast in any plays recently? Feeling pretty annoyed and rejected? Well, really annoyed and rejected actually? Who does that Graves character think he is anyway? Want to get even? Contemplating murder perhaps?

Well stop right there. Carlton has the perfect solution for both your dramatic impulses and your murderous thoughts. We are pleased to announce that the Spring rehearsed readings will be a double bill of:

Jailbird by Georges Feydeau

and

The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard

The productions will take place March 19th and 20th, with a dress rehearsal on the 18th.

Auditions will be Thursday January 22nd at Wimbledon Community Centre at 8.00pm.

So pick yourselves up and dust yourselves off and come along. We shall do our best to get a Jeff lookalike to play the part of the corpse. April may be the cruellest month, but now March is looking pretty mean too.

CANCELLED - Play Reading Thurs 11 Dec - CANCELLED

An excess of Christmas commitments and spirit (vodka mainly in my case) means that most of the committee and members seem already tied up tomorrow night. We are therefore cancelling the play reading that was to be held tomorrow (Thursday 11th) at the community centre. Apologies.

We will reconvene, rested and refreshed, on Monday January 5th for a read through of Black Widow, the April production. Watch this space for news of the spring rehearsed reading too.

Best wishes to everyone for a merry Christmas and a happy, adventurous and fun-filled new year.

As You Like It

Rosalind is a girl. Disguised as a boy called Ganymede. Pretending to be a girl called Rosalind…. So that the man she loves, Orlando, can practise wooing Rosalind (whom he thinks is Ganymede). Orlando loves Rosalind (but thinks she’s a boy called Ganymede). Phoebe loves Ganymede (not knowing she’s a girl called Rosalind). Freud would have had a field day with this! Tue 08 Jul 2008 » ***** Is bureaucracy getting you down?! Carlton Rehearsed Reading "Idiocracy" *****

Then come along and see this sparkling Carlton Rehearsed Reading "Idiocracy" - you'll then see that someone else is suffering more!

In this play, Toby and Nicky are definitely bearing the brunt of an overly bureaucratic, privatised-in-all-but-name health and welfare system. But when an experimental drug provided by the Army Medical Corps turns Nicky's shell-shocked war veteran brother into a murderous automaton, all sorts of strange things start to happen.

FRIDAY 18th JULY at 7:45 pm - Main Hall, Wimbledon Community Centre, 28 St George's Street, SW19 - entrance programmes £5.

Written by fellow member Neil Kelly and directed by Kathie Arundell - don't miss it!
